Winery: Brys Estate Vineyard & Winery

3309 Blue Water Road Traverse City, MI 49686

While the wine is what draws people to Brys Estate, it’s the views, unique atmosphere, friendly hospitality, and the secret garden that gets people to stay.  Situated on 91 acres, Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery is a must-see on Old Mission Peninsula. From their award winning wines, to their mahogany tasting room, and their one-of-a kind upper deck that overlooks the vineyard and East Bay, Brys Estate is truly a pure Michigan experience.

Since Brys Estate’s first harvest in 2004, they have positioned themselves as a Northern Michigan favorite.  Their estate now consists of a total of 91 acres, and over 40,000 vines planted.

This winery is meant to be an experience, and not just a quick pop-in, pop-out tasting. Let the ambiance work its magic! Take your time to be educated on the wines, peak into their intimate vaulted barrel room, and finish off your visit with a cheeseboard and glass on the upper deck. If you do have the time, I suggest taking a private tour of the winery with their award-winning winemaker, Conrad Stassen.

The Secret Garden

Brys Estate Secret Garden

A secret, because it’s not visible from the winery or any public roads, Brys Estate’s Secret Garden is a hidden gem. Where they say “memories bloom,” the Secret Garden consists of more than 5,000 lavender plants, a flower garden, a strawberry patch, and a blueberry patch.  When it’s peak season, the Secret Garden is an experience unlike any other. Come July the Secret Garden is surrounded by Lavender plants, among others in full bloom. Guests can enjoy a u-pick experience, or pick up a pre-cut bundle at the gift shop.

After enjoying the garden’s many plants and beautiful scenery, stop into the gift shop for a special souvenir or a handmade lavender product.  Finish off your Secret Garden adventure by relaxing on the patio, sipping on one of their seasonal drinks, and enjoying a scoop of one of their custom made Moomer’s Ice cream flavors.
