A Day in the Life of a Lakes and Grapes In-Person Intern

A Day in the Life of a Lakes and Grapes In-Person Intern

 Author: Brooke Bostwick

I started as a social media and marketing intern at Lakes and Grapes in September 2020. Along with my internship, I was working online to complete my Associates Degree in Marketing at Lansing Community College. My first day was at the Harvest Collection Photoshoot! Talk about jumping right into meeting Abby and some of the Lakes and Grapes Ambassadors. Being local gives me the opportunity to meet face-to-face in store each week. Here is what it looks like for me as an intern!

Morning at Home

A morning for me is often spent drinking coffee, playing with my dog, checking social media, and getting ready for the day. Before I head out the door, I spend a few minutes checking our social media accounts and responding to DMs.

Arrive at Noon

Starting my day with Abby, I begin working on my to-do list! This often includes scheduling content for our social media, writing blog posts, managing the Brand Ambassador Program, and assisting with inventory at the store. While socially distanced from Abby, I do my work apart from her in the retail space. Being in the store gives me a chance to interact with our customers and prepare online orders.

1:00 p.m. After working through the to-do list, we virtually meet with Hannah, the other intern, to discuss what needs to be done and brainstorm new ideas. Abby, Hannah, and I make a great team. I always look forward to our weekly meetings because we all get to come together and chat. Hopefully sometime soon we can meet Hannah in person and show her around the store!

2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Following our meeting, I return to working on my to-to lists. This time of day we’re often working separately at the store but she's only steps away to answer any questions that I have. We’re usually listening to music and talking about our similar interests in between work! Being able to meet face-to-face at least a few days a week has made this experience even better. I am so grateful to be local to Traverse City and to have the opportunity to be in person!

Ending my Week at the store

The end of the week is even more exciting because I get to be at the Lakes and Grapes store. Don’t get me wrong, I love working on my to-do lists at home early in the week, but being able to meet with Abby and be creative together makes the position so much more fun! Outside of meeting in person I get to live the Lakes and Grapes lifestyle with my wonderful doodle, Ozzy. From hiking the Northern Michigan trials to Netflix and wine, he’s my right-hand to enjoy it all with. Cheers!
